Fun short board game on my phone

Armello is a fun little turn based strategy board game conveniently located on my phone. Though there has been a “pay to unlock content” feature installed, you can play the game for free without instantly losing against players who have chosen to spend money. The gameplay is fun, there are lots of methods to win, and the balance seems to be there in most cases.

I have encountered a couple of small issues that prevent me from giving it 5 stars. The first is a general issue that there doesn’t seem to be a wide community of players using the play online function. Thankfully you can still play by yourself with generated AI opponents, but they will never give you as good a competition as real players. The lack of setting AI difficulty means that once you are proficient at the game, you shouldn’t ever lose to the AI again. I have waited for over 2 hours for the game to fill a 4 person lobby, which to me means there just aren’t a lot of people playing.

Secondly, there are challenges you can attempt to complete to unlock content, and in game currency to unlock more content. The third column of challenges are very specific and in my opinion can be quite difficult. For instance one of them is “recruit a follower you have already lost once before this game”. My problem with that column is that I have achieved some of the conditions multiple times in my single player games, and the rewards are still locked. I can only imagine this is a glitch of some kind, but it is frustrating when I “play an entire game without killing a hero” and I don’t get the reward for it after the game is done.

All in all, I have recommended Armello to my friends, and I hope that I can start using the private lobby multiplayer to just play with them instead of waiting for the public lobby and low player base!

The game looks interesting, but I can't play, it says it supports 9.1 and higher, and my iPad is at 10.3.3, but when I launch the app it says it isn't supported

Hi there,

Apologies that we don't support your devices. So basically, as developers we don't have the power to alter/throttle who can and cannot download the app like Apple can. Instead we've had to implement our own device limitations as specified in our own description in the store page.

We do this because we know that Armello is already a beefy game for the newer models, we just can't guarantee that it'll work on older ones. In fact in most of these models, it just straight up doesn't work at all.

It sucks that you have to go through the process of downloading the app before getting this information, we just don't have a better way to communicate this at this time.

stop leaving unreasonable 1 stars because your device can't run it

this a great game and seeing the immense amount of bad ratings because of something out of the developer's control is really scummy. If apple is throttling access because of how old your device is, don't leave a bad review - you are misrepresenting the game and legitimately hurting financial support for it.
