Koala’s super intuitive interface helps you make a tracks in a flash, there is no brake pedal. You can also resample the output of the app back into the input, through the effects, so the sonic possibilities are endless.
Koala's design focuses totally on making the music making progress instant, keeping you in the flow and keeping it fun, not getting bogged down by pages of parameters and micro-editing.
"Been putting that $4 koala sampler to good use lately. Undeniably great tool that puts some of these expensive beat boxes to shame. A must cop."

Ratings and Reviews
A winner
Great great app. Period.
One thing really bothers me. If you buy an app and you like it a lot, it's cool to communicate that to others by rating it. If an update has bugs, you DONT RATE IT AGAIN WITH A BAD RATING TO THREATEN THE DEVELOPER. You email the guy or girl to let him know. You know the app is good so why screw up the apps sales because of a bug that will get fixed. Ratings are not there to communicate with the developer. The thing that really shows that the people who do that do not care about anyone but themselves, is that they never change their bad rating. So the promise of hanging thé rating if the bug is fixed is never honoured.
Koala is fantastic. Every app has bugs sometimes. If every time a bug appeared everyone would give a bad rating, every app would have lousy ratings. Most people realize this so it's not a big problem. It's only bad when one if those ignorant people buy a great app.
Fun, easy and portable
At first I didn’t use the app despite rave reviews from friends. I was on a plane ride with nothing to do opened up and made 3 ideas quickly learning how to use it.
I’ve played with my niece and nephew with it and everyone loves it’s simple and fun interface. Thank you
When the clipper drops, this will be a PERFECT app
I have probably put at least 2k hours into this app and know it inside out at this point. I am well versed in pro tools, ableton and FL studio and Koala is the thing I find myself reaching for. Marek is an outstanding dev and person for not making this a subscription model app. The amount of money he could be making if he did choose that route as many others have, makes my head spin and I am so thankful because I would have no choice to pay whatever he asked.
My thoughts:
- as mentioned the price and lack of a subscription model are a huge plus
- the ease of adding sample packs (the method I use involves using file sharing to transfer zipped sample packs to izip, unpacking them and adding the main izip folder to koala in the browser)
- performance and low latency allowing accurate unquantized recording possible
- the user interface is both extremely functional and beautiful.
- extensive effects and mixer
- stem separation that runs locally is not top tier but still incredible to have in a pinch
- piano roll still isn’t all the way there but again, very nice to have. Main issue is that when dragging the end of a midi note it does not snap to lines, rather the note length is what the snap is determined by. This is especially problematic when trying to repeat an unquantized hat pattern. The end point of the last hat determines the beginning of the next repetition so when it’s not lining up with the line, the repeat function becomes almost useless
- custom mapping of midi controllers is extremely cool
- once fully understood, the time stretching is extremely well implemented.
- I could go on but this is getting too long.
