Misleading advertising
The app itself worked well for what I wanted it for, however I think it’s incredibly misleading to offer an app for free (without any indication at all to suggest it’s a limited time trial version) and then once I’ve put hours of work into creating a chart, suddenly tell me I can’t do any further revisions to it without paying.
There’s a world of difference between a free limited feature version of an app that can be upgraded to a paid full feature version (which is the norm), and trying to trick me into buying your app by offering a limited time trial version, but not telling me that’s what you’re offering.
The end result is this - no matter how much I like your app, I will NEVER give you my money, because I object to your tactics.
Fair warning to anyone considering downloading this app - it is NOT a free app, and your work will be held hostage after a short period of time.
No customer service!
I tried Lucidchart for a trial period that was offered and when I did not want to proceed with the service further I notified the support team via several emails and I did not get any reply. It has come to the point that I had to cancel the credit card that I had to provide when setting up the trial period in order to assure that I would not be charged. Felt like they just tried to trap me into their subscription and feel like they are scamming me. I would not advise giving your payment info for any trial period with this company at all because they might just be looking to charge subscriptions but do not provide any source of customer service nor do they allow any method of cancellation. Be aware!
Excellent software (when it works) but greedy company
This was a good piece of software for making flowcharts on iPad, there aren’t many choices. After a moment of panic where I thought a file had gotten corrupted, it synced properly from the server and was restored... but other than that it is easy and straightforward to use.
The real problem is that even if you subscribe to their basic plan, you can’t export your docs to an editable format. So even after you’ve started paying for a subscription, you STILL can’t can’t export documents made in Lucidchart to edit them elsewhere. So my choice is to abandon my documents and remake them in a cheaper, non-subscription software OR pay for $150/year(!!!) for the Pro membership. I’m choosing the former.
Ya got greedy, Lucidchart.
