I had to fight and beg to be paid the money that I made on my shop. I had to keep putting my shop on vacation mode because I was spending €400 a week on shipping out of my own pocket and ran out of money because Etsy owed me over €1000 did not pay me for three weeks. I literally hadn’t a cent to my name to ship any more items so I had to close shop.

They also placed a hold on my payments because they claim I didn’t provide tracking numbers even though they sent me a copy of the email they sent to my customers that included tracking numbers that I had provided. When I sent Etsy screenshots of the tracking numbers that I had provided that they were displaying to my customers on their website they said ‘with respect the hold wouldn’t have been placed if you had provided tracking numbers’ while literally looking at the tracking numbers I had given right in front of them.

I shut my shop down. I can understand the hold being there to stop scammers but I had multiple 5 star reviews and every item had tracking.

I moved to bigcartel instead. It’s great!

The only advantage of Etsy is being able to advertise your products more if you are a small business just starting out with no customer base.
